1931
Smith's is born in Australia
Frank Smith and George Ensor manufactured the first Smith's Chips in Australia . These men took the humble potato and created an iconic new snack that has captured the hearts and taste buds of Aussies for generations.
1961
Australia tastes its very first flavoured crisp
The Smith’s Snackfood Company introduced Australia to a flavoured chip for the very first time in 1961. Chicken flavour chips delighted Aussie consumers around the country.
1987
The Smith's chippie-loving Gobbledok arrives
In 1987, Aussie families were introduced to the infamous Gobbledok on his search for the irresistible Smith’s potato chip. His unforgettable catch phrase, "Chippie, chippie, chippies" could be heard as he raced back to his home on planet Dok with packs of Smith's in arm.
2016
The Smith’s chips logo gets a makeover
Since 1931, the Smith’s logo has transformed to reflect Australia’s evolving culture. Our latest logo and pack design has a more dynamic and contemporary feel, as the iconic red Smith's banner breaks out of the blue diamond to wrap around for an exciting multi-dimensional effect.
